Located only a handful of miles to the east of Wakyuta, lies New Prague, a quant residential enclave founded by Czech immigrants. While the town began as a small collection of farms and homes, New Prague soon experienced moderate population growth due to the nearby railroad. Meanwhile, the neighboring community of Wakyute was rapidly transforming into a regional railroad hub, and growing fast. Today, despite being enclosed within Wakyuta city limits, New Prague remains its own independent city. The modern-day community offers quiet suburban living, as well as high-end retailers and residents alike.
New Prague draws inspiration from Germantown, Tennessee, and elements of the Midtown neighborhood of Tulsa.

Throughout the mid-1900s, a new idea of urbanism was rapidly taking shape. Many of these modern ideas promoted spacious, vehicle-centric infrastructure in replacement of historical city blocks. Unsurprisingly, such development was largely based on the practice of redlining, where inner-city neighborhoods were designated as either safe or unsafe areas for investment. These classifications were largely based on the racial and socioeconomic makeup of the neighborhoods, with minority neighborhoods frequently being identified as unsafe investments or ‘slum clearance’. The practice of redlining has resulted in the erasure of entire minority neighborhoods, with historical city blocks being cleared for redevelopment.

Throughout the mid-1900s, a new idea of urbanism was rapidly taking shape. Known commonly as the practice of urban renewal, many of these modern ideas promoted spacious, vehicle-centric infrastructure in replacement of historical city blocks. Unsurprisingly, such development was largely based on the practice of redlining, where inner-city neighborhoods were designated as either safe or unsafe areas for investment. These classifications were largely based on the racial and socioeconomic makeup of the neighborhoods, with minority neighborhoods frequently being identified as unsafe investments or deemed ‘slum clearance’. The practice of redlining has resulted in the erasure of entire minority neighborhoods, with endless historical city blocks being cleared for redevelopment.
